Common issues
My Strava activity didn't show up
- Safarnama only counts activities dated on or after the day you started that route. Older Strava history isn't pulled in.
- The activity type has to be a moving one, run, walk, hike, ride, or their virtual/indoor equivalents. Weights, yoga and the like are skipped.
- Very short activities (under ~300 m) are ignored.
- Give Strava a minute to finish processing your upload, then press Sync again, the Strava card sits on My Journey (under “Log an activity”) and on your Profile.
My activity says “Pending review”
Strava syncs and GPX/FIT files are counted straight away. A screenshot upload with a manually typed distance needs a quick human check first, usually within 24 hours. Once approved, its distance and climb are added to your route automatically.
I've done the distance but the monument won't unlock
On a Distance + elevation route (the default), every monument has two targets: a distance and a total climb. If the distance bar is full but the stop is still locked, you haven't met the climb yet. Your climb builds up from the elevation in your Strava activities and GPX/FIT files, run or ride somewhere with hills, use a treadmill incline or a stair session, or enter the metres by hand when you upload a screenshot. The dashboard shows exactly how much climb is left to the next stop.
Can I turn off the climb requirement?
Yes. When you activate a new city, Safarnama asks how you want it scored: Distance + elevation (the default, both gates) or Distance only (monuments unlock on distance alone; the climb is still shown, just for interest). You can also switch either way mid-route from the elevation card on your dashboard, switching to Distance + elevation won't re-lock a monument you've already reached.
How accurate are the route distances and climb?
Every stop is placed using real published coordinates (Wikipedia, OpenStreetMap, or a landmark's own geotagged photo), and elevation comes from satellite terrain data sampled at each exact spot. The distance between stops is a researched estimate, not a GPS-walked or surveyed route: we find a real, independently published reference distance for part of the route (for example, a monument's known distance from the city centre) and scale the rest of the path to match it. Where a source was unreliable, unclear, or contradicted itself, we used the better-corroborated figure and noted the call in our research file for that city. In short: carefully cross-checked, but not a certified survey, if your own tracked distance for a familiar stretch comes out a little different, trust your GPS. Small discrepancies of this kind don't affect your ability to finish a route or unlock its monuments.
Deleting your account
Delete my account is on your Profile. It emails you a confirmation link; clicking it permanently erases your routes, activities and progress. See the privacy policy for what is kept and why.
I paid but the route is still locked
- Fully close and reopen the app, or sign out and back in, access refreshes on login.
- Payments are processed by Razorpay; if the charge went through but nothing unlocked after a few minutes, email us the payment reference (from your Razorpay receipt) and we'll fix it.
What happens if I disconnect Strava?
The activities Strava synced are removed and their distance and climb roll back out of your progress. You can reconnect any time, your history re-syncs, and activities dated on or after the day you started a route count again.
Refunds
See the refund policy. In short: because your first city is entirely free to try before you ever pay for a second one, purchases are generally final, but if something went wrong, email us and we'll make it right.
Still stuck?
