The landmark story

The Red Fort in Old Delhi was the main residence of the Mughal emperors. Shah Jahan commissioned it on 12 May 1639 when he moved his capital from Agra to Delhi, and its design is credited to Ustad Ahmad Lahori, the architect of the Taj Mahal. Nadir Shah's army plundered it in 1739.
